Harper Jones - Author
Harper is an author living in Singapore. She is currently working on an urban fantasy series.
About me
I was born in South Africa in 1989. My family moved to New Zealand when I was three years old.
I have always enjoyed writing, so I figured the best way to do so - and earn money at the same time - was to be a lawyer.
In line with that ideal, I obtained my Bachelor of Laws conjoint with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with an English Major. I then went on to obtain my Master of Laws (with Honours) in 2013.
I qualified in New Zealand, but spent most of my career working as a lawyer in Sydney, Australia. I focused on large-scale infrastructure and project disputes, working at an international law firm before moving to work as in-house counsel for a global construction company.
In 2021, my partner was offered a job in Singapore. So we, together with our therapy dog, Kitai (a Finnish Lapphund, bred as a reindeer herder in the snow but who loves to sleep in the sun), made the move.
Lucky enough to have a very supportive partner, this has been a perfect opportunity for me to work on my adult and YA urban fantasy series.
Other than writing, I spend my free time travelling to new countries, volunteering with Kitai, crocheting, playing piano and reading every non-fiction psychological, economic, historical, religious and scientific book I can get my hands on - all in the name of research for my novels.
